CHANGE OF COMMAND | 3MBDE Welcomes New Commander

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan —The 3rd Marine Brigade (3MBDE) held a Change of Command Ceremony on September 22, 2025, at MBRP, Brgy. Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City.

In a time-honored military rite, BGEN ANTONIO G MANGOROBAN JR PN(M), the Brigade's 26th Commander, relinquished command of the unit to COL WILFREDO B MANALANG JR PN(M)(GSC), formerly the Deputy Brigade Commander. MGEN VICENTE MARK ANTHONY P BLANCO III PN(M), Commandant, PMC, presided over the transition of command and also delivered the keynote address during the event.

In his address, MGEN BLANCO, on one hand, lauded BGEN MANGOROBAN for successfully sustaining internal security gains in Palawan while transitioning the

Brigade’s focus toward the growing maritime security concerns in the Kalayaan Island Group and the West Philippine Sea, as well as disaster response operations amid the threats of climate change.

On the other hand, the Commandant, PMC also expressed full confidence in COL MANALANG, describing him as a “warrior, intelligence officer, defense diplomat, and scholar” whose career reflects a deep commitment to the Marine Corps and national service. “As you assume command of the 3rd Marine Brigade, you inherit a proud unit and a critical mission, hence, sustain the momentum, care for your Marines, and continue steering this brigade in service of our national defense objectives,” the Commandant added.

In recognition of his outstanding service, BGEN MANGOROBAN received the Distinguished Service Star, along with plaques of recognition, and other awards from stakeholders.

As the 3rd Marine Brigade enters a new chapter under COL. MANALANG’S leadership, the unit remains committed to protecting national sovereignty, promoting peace and order, and enhancing interagency cooperation—especially in the country’s critical maritime territories.
